Your Online Visit at Cornerstone Dermatology
Telehealth is the use of videoconferencing technology that allows patients to have a live, real-time online appointment with their dermatology provider, almost as if they were in the same room.
All of our providers are pleased to extend expert dermatology care to patients via Doxy.me, a completely secure telehealth portal. This service is available to both new and established patients. Medicare and many commercial insurances cover telehealth appointments in the same way they cover an in-office appointment. Please check coverage with your insurance carrier prior to scheduling your appointment. For patients whose insurance does not cover telehealth appointments, we also offer a self-pay rate. (As with a regular office visit, patients are responsible for making their copayment prior to their appointment.)
To enter into your already-scheduled appointment, please click on your provider’s name below to begin.
We understand that this new technology may bring lots of questions! Please see FAQ’s below.
How does a telemedicine visit at Cornerstone Dermatology work?
Call 816-287-1528 to schedule an online telemedicine visit. You can also email hello@cornerstonedermatology.com to request an appointment.
After scheduling, you will receive an email with your appointment date/time and a link to enter a virtual waiting room. (See link above.) Please use the highest speed internet possible and the newest technology/equipment you have available to maximize our ability to visualize your skin condition. You must have a device with a functioning camera or webcam.
Enter the virtual waiting room at least 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time. We will do our best to be timely, but appreciate your patience as we accommodate other patients. When our staff is ready, we will link to your online visit and the appointment will begin.
Please make co-payments online before your appointment. You can make a secure online payment here.
Do you accept any type of insurance? How much am I charged for online visit vs. in-person?
Medicare and many commercial insurances for which we are in-network cover telemedicine visits. Please check with your plan prior to scheduling.
For insured patients who have telehealth as a covered benefit, we will bill your insurance company in the same way we do in-office visits. You will be responsible for co-pays and deductibles as normal.
For patients who do not have telehealth appointments as a covered benefit, the self-pay rate is $95, payable online or by phone prior to your appointment.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Cornerstone Dermatology has implemented a secure, HIPAA-compliant telemedicine platform called Doxy.me.
The information from your visit will only be stored in our normal electronic health record, as it would be for your in-person visit.
What types of conditions can be diagnosed and treated with an online telemedicine visit?
Acne, eczema, rashes, psoriasis, warts, and many other dermatologic conditions can be accurately diagnosed and treated.
Spot checks for concerning lesions are also possible, although we will need particularly high-quality video. We may also request that photographs be sent to our secure email address as part of the visit.
It is possible that we may require a follow-up visit in the office if we feel it is necessary to confidently diagnose the condition.
Full-body skin examinations are not possible with telemedicine.
What if my condition requires a procedure to be performed?
If a procedure is required to diagnose or treat your condition, we will schedule an in-office visit at a later date.
If I am a new patient to Cornerstone Dermatology can I schedule a telemedicine visit?
No, unfortunately at this time only established patients can be seen via our telemedicine platform. We are working on methods to offer this technology to new patients as well.
